Help, I Lost My BlackBerry Smartphone!”

Should you call a superhero? No, try the BlackBerry Protect app coming soon

Finding a lost, misplaced, or stolen BlackBerry smartphone will soon be much easier with BlackBerry® Protect. This free app lets you back up, lock, locate, or wipe your smartphone from wherever you are, so you can ensure your data stays secure. If this sounds like something you might be interested in, you can try it in advance in the BlackBerry® Beta Zone. (Become a beta tester here.) Once installed, you can log into the BlackBerry® Protect website to activate any of these features:

Automatically back up your data, wirelessly: You can back up your contacts, calendar, memos, tasks, and browser bookmarks as often as you choose (daily, weekly, or monthly).

Restore data from your last smartphone: Restore device settings, databases, and personal information (PIM)—whatever you had backed up on your previous smartphone. As much or as little as you choose.

Wipe your BlackBerry smartphone remotely: You can log in to the BlackBerry Protect website and wipe the content from both the device memory and microSD™ cards remotely. You won’t need to think twice about who’s got your data.

Locate your BlackBerry smartphone: See where your smartphone is using cell tower and GPS technologies.

Lock your BlackBerry smartphone remotely: Ensure your data is safe by locking your device remotely with a password.

Activate loud ringing from your desktop. If you’ve misplaced your smartphone, you can make it ring on full volume for one minute—so you can quickly find where it might be.
